Environmental Awareness Peterborough
Welcome To The Railworld Wildlife Haven….
We are a self funded volunteer project to encourage environmental awareness using model trains. Our project is a prime example of what can be achieved if volunteers, groups and individuals all come together to do something as one. We have never had any core funding, everything you see at the Railworld Wildlife Haven was purchased with the funds that we have raised by ourselves and since thirty years ago when the land was bought we have now created what is situated here today.
We have won six major UK Environmental Awards and one worldwide award from Caterpillar which gives us the greatest feeling because it shows that we are getting noticed and the word is getting out there.
We started the Railworld Wildlife Haven – Using the 3 sections of historic aqueducts to provide bridges over a ‘hills and hollows’ landscaped area, with ponds and waterfalls creating an intriguing and exciting place for our children to explore and learn about our Natural World. We have our habitat area, plus over 2,000 square feet of model railways to support the ‘Railworld ‘aspect here.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help. So give us a call if you think you would be interested in getting involved.
We are located alongside Peterborough Nene Valley Station – There is ample car parking and we are easily accessible, 15 minutes walk from Peterborough’s main railway station. Do not use our postcode – It will lead you to the wrong place! To see exact directions, please click here.
