Welcome To Little Miracles
If you are the parent or career of a child with additional needs, disabilities or a life-limiting condition you are not alone and there is an incredible charity which provides: support, advice, help, counselling and friendship, Little Miracles Children’s Charity for your little miracle.
Mighty Oaks from acorns grow could not be more apt the children’s parent-led Charity Little Miracles was once very small a couple of parents getting together over a coffee to discuss the struggles they faced with their children. The founder and driver behind this all Michelle King has worked tirelessly to provide this support when due to budget cuts many local councils were having to close centres. From these humble beginnings the charity grew and grew and now supports thousands of families with children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions providing invaluable specialised vital support.
The Children’s Charity was recognised for its amazing work and the Peterborough and first branch received funding from Children in Need and a much needed makeover by the BBC’s DIY SOS program in just 9 days and sixteen thousand man hours and six hundred volunteers the Spinney was built a new purpose-built centre and landscaped gardens with safe play areas. The Spinney has a sensory room and adapted bathrooms and toilets basically anything to assist children with any and all disabilities allowing them the freedom to play laugh and be children.
The Little Miracles miracle has not stopped there and now has eleven sites (please see details below) and venues providing support and meaningful fun and activities in secure, safe environments. Daily activities and days out prove very popular and the impact and benefit of spending time with parents facing similar challenges cannot be measured. Little Miracles Children’s Charity however developed peer-peer support and mentoring and now has counsellors family support workers emotional support workers and occupational therapists providing a plethora of specialised support for families.
Sadly bereavement and loss of a child but again Little Miracles offers bereavement support and counselling to parents and siblings during this extremely difficult time.
Volunteers supply most of these services and as testament to how successful the organisation is many of these volunteers were once service users and now provide support themselves.
If you want to volunteer at any of our centres or are looking to raise funds for a charity Little Miracles is an excellent choice the laughter and smiles on the faces of children and parents is impossible to value.
